Jon Hayward
Jon became our M.D. in 2023 following an extended period as Assistant to Lindley Gram. Lindley has a considerable reputation internationally in the Barbershop world and Jon benefited hugely by working alongside him.Under Jon’s entertaining style, the chorus has moved its identity from being a “Competition focused chorus” to “an entertaining chorus.” This transition has been well accepted by our singers and we have abandoned the more formal uniform, of previous years, in favour of an informal, colourful style. Jon has also introduced some movement to our performances and generally we are having more fun.
Jon is very committed to the value of “warm up” in order to achieve the best quality sound from the group. His conducting style is all about reflecting the emotion he is attempting to achieve in his facial expressions. Word of our entertaining style is spreading and is reflected in the increased bookings we are getting.
